  • Examples: A cybersecurity analyst or an AI researcher.

Generalists

  • Adaptable and versatile, able to connect dots across disciplines.
  • Thrive in roles requiring broad thinking and collaboration.
  • Examples: Project managers or startup founders.

Each path has its pros and cons:

  • Specialists can become highly sought-after experts, but they may face challenges if their niche becomes obsolete.
  • Generalists can work across industries, but sometimes they lack the deep technical edge.
